MUTCD W20-1: ROAD WORK Sign
The W20-1 sign is covered in Section 6H.03 of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, 11th Edition. Below are the provisions from that section that describe when the sign is used and how it is placed.
What it means and when it is used
- Guidance · Recommended (should)The ROAD (STREET) WORK (W20-1) sign (see Figure 6H-1 ), which serves as a general warning of obstructions or restrictions, should be located in advance of the work space or any detour, on the road where the work is taking place.
- Guidance · Recommended (should)Where traffic can enter a TTC zone from a crossroad or a major (high-volume) driveway, an advance warning sign should be used on the crossroad or major driveway.
