MUTCD W8-3: PA VEMENT ENDS Sign
The W8-3 sign is covered in Section 2C.28 of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, 11th Edition. Below are the provisions from that section that describe when the sign is used and how it is placed.
What it means and when it is used
- Guidance · Recommended (should)A PAVEMENT ENDS (W8-3) sign (see Figure 2C-7 ) should be used where a paved surface changes to either a gravel treated surface or an earth road surface.
- Option · Permitted (may)An Advisory Speed plaque (see Figure 2C-1 and Section 2C.59) may be used when the change in roadway condition requires a reduced speed.
