IBC — International Building Code2021 IBC, as amended by Louisiana — adopted at LAC 17:I.103, effective 2023-01-01, as part of the Louisiana State Uniform Construction Code. NOT the 2024 IBC. NOTE THE CARVE-OUTS: La. R.S. 40:1730.28(A)(1) mandates the International Building Code "not including Parts I-Administrative, and Chapter 27-Electrical" — Louisiana does NOT adopt the IBC's administrative chapter or its electrical chapter, which are supplied instead by the LSUCCC's own administration and by the 2020 National Electrical Code.LAC 17:I.103 (Louisiana State Uniform Construction Code — International Building Code), adopted by LAC 17:I.101 eff. 2023-01-01; statutory mandate La. As of 7/1/2026 the IFC is a statutorily PERMITTED ALTERNATIVE under R.S. 40:1578.7(B) as amended by Acts 2024, No. 534, but the State Fire Marshal has designated NO IFC EDITION by rule.La. IMC — International Mechanical Code2021 IMC, as amended by Louisiana — LAC 17:I.109, part of the Louisiana State Uniform Construction Code, effective 2023-01-01. NOT the 2024 IMC. The full 2021 IMC is adopted with the standards referenced in it; §109 states no exclusion of any IMC chapter or part (unlike the IBC, whose statutory mandate at La. R.S. 40:1730.28(A)(1) carves out Part I-Administrative and Chapter 27).LAC 17:I.109 (Louisiana State Uniform Construction Code — International Mechanical Code), adopted by LAC 17:I.101.A eff. 2023-01-01; council authority La. IRC — International Residential Code2021 IRCLAC 17:I.107 (Louisiana State Uniform Construction Code - International Residential Code). ADOPTING INSTRUMENT TEXT, TRANSCRIBED VERBATIM FROM THE PROMULGATED CODE AND CONFIRMED ON TWO INDEPENDENT READS: "International Residential Code, 2021 Edition, not including Parts I-Administrative, and VIII-Electrical." EFFECTIVE-DATE SENTENCE, LAC 17:I.101, VERBATIM: "In accordance with the requirements set forth in R.S. 40:1730.28, effective January 1, 2023 the following is hereby adopted as an amendment to the Louisiana State Uniform Construction Code." AUTHORITY NOTE PRINTED ON s.107, VERBATIM: "Promulgated in accordance with R.S. 40:1730.22(C) and (D) and 40:1730.26(1)." HISTORICAL NOTE (opening), VERBATIM: "Promulgated by the Department of Public Safety and Corrections, State Uniform Construction Code Council, LR 33:291 (February 2007), amended LR 34:93 (January 2008)..." running through "amended LR 45:1789 (December 2019), amended LR 48:". NEC — National Electrical Code (NFPA 70)2020 NEC (NFPA 70), as amended by Louisiana. ADOPTING TEXT VERBATIM, LAC 17:I.115.A: "National Electric Code (NEC), 2020 Edition, and the standards referenced in that code for regulation of construction in this state." NOT the 2023 NEC. SCOPE: statewide, both residential and commercial (applies_to left NULL because the column only accepts residential/commercial) — the LSUCCC is the mandatory statewide construction code under La. R.S. 40:1730.28(A), which commands that the council "shall evaluate, adopt, and amend only the latest editions" of the listed codes (verbatim, read first-hand this run); administered by the Louisiana State Uniform Construction Code Council, Office of the State Fire Marshal, Dept. of Public Safety and Corrections. NOTE THE STATUTORY SPELLING: both R.S. 40:1730.28(A)(8) and the rule say "National Electric Code", not "National Electrical Code" — a search of Louisiana law for "National Electrical Code" MISSES THE ADOPTION ENTIRELY. THE STATUTE NAMES NO EDITION: R.S. 40:1730.28(A)(8) reads, in its entirety, "National Electric Code." The edition exists ONLY in the rule, so the rule is the only place the answer can be read. Louisiana electrical is NOT folded inside the adopted I-Codes: R.S. 40:1730.28(A)(1) excludes IBC "Chapter 27-Electrical" and (A)(3)(a) excludes IRC "Part ... VIII-Electrical", so the NEC is the sole statewide electrical code and stands on its own. This CONFIRMS first-hand the "2020 National Electrical Code" note previously carried as hearsay on the Louisiana IBC row.LAC 17:I.115 (Louisiana State Uniform Construction Code — National Electric Code; formerly LAC 55:VI.301.A.7), adopted as part of Chapter 1 by LAC 17:I.101.A effective 2023-01-01; statutory mandate La. R.S. 40:1730.28(A)(8); council authority La. R.S. 40:1730.22(C) and (D) and 40:1730.26(1) (AUTHORITY NOTE printed on s.115); promulgating Rule published LR 48:2606 (October 2022); latest amendment LR 50:413 (March 2024). HISTORICAL NOTE on s.115 runs from LR 33:291 (February 2007) through LR 48:2606 (October 2022) and LR 50:413. · source ↗

Permit fee schedule ↗ · fee schedule checked August 2026

The City of Baton Rouge / Parish of East Baton Rouge publishes its fees on the Permit & Inspection Fees page, which carries no effective date and no ordinance number. Residential new building, remodel and addition permits are charged per square foot with stated minimums; residential mechanical, electrical, plumbing and gas trade permits are $125.00 each; a residential fence permit is $250.00. A $25.00 technology fee applies to all permits; reinspections are $75.00 and after hours work $150.00. Credit card payments carry a 5% fee. Verified against Code of Ordinances Sec. 8:801 (Ord. 18690, 11-22-22; amended Ord. 18848, 5-10-23; code current through Ord. 19834, 4-22-2026, Supp. 103), which publishes systematically lower figures for the same items: a $15.00 technology fee, a $20.00 re-inspection fee, a $125.00 flat fee for residential fences and other residential building permits, a $45.00 board of adjustments application and a $15.00 flood zone determination letter. Sec. 8:801 also states the technology fee twice, at subsections (10) and (31). Because Sec. 8:801 directs that permits be charged according to the schedule set by the governing authority, the published page is treated as operative and the code figures are recorded as a conflict rather than reconciled. No fee is published for decks, roofing or retaining walls. Code text was retrieved through api.municode.com/CodesContent (productId 10107) because library.municode.com and permits.brla.gov are unreachable.
