Do you need a permit?
Kansas City requires a permit for general building work.
Repairs that do not involve any violation of the Building and Rehabilitation Code are exempt, along with a published list of minor work that includes replacement of exterior wall coverings on detached one- and two-family dwellings, replacement of doors and windows in existing openings where fire resistance, smoke control and opening protection are not required, replacement of soffits and wall or roof sheathing less than 32 square feet in area, installation or replacement of exterior gutters and downspouts, tuckpointing, painting and finish work, and walks, patios and driveways constructed on existing grade.
