| IFGC — International Fuel Gas Code | 2024 IFGC — but THE RULE CALLS IT "The International Gas Code", A CODE THAT DOES NOT EXIST; MODULAR HOMES ONLY; rolling rider "as they may be revised or amended" | 19 Miss. Admin. Code Pt. 7, R. 3.02.1(F) (Mississippi Insurance Department / State Fire Marshal, Regulation ME-2007-3, Modular Homes -- Standards for Construction and Installation); authority Miss. Code Ann. s 75-49-5 (Supp. 2024); document header "REVISED AND UPDATED July 1, 2026". ADOPTION SENTENCE READ FIRST-HAND 2026-09-26, VERBATIM AND MISNAMED IN THE ORIGINAL: "The International Gas Code, 2024 edition, published by the ICC" -- the ICC publishes no "International Gas Code"; the referent is the International Fuel Gas Code, 2024 edition. Closing rolling clause VERBATIM: "All of the above codes as they may be revised or amended." STATEWIDE NEGATIVE: no general statewide fuel gas code exists in Mississippi -- Miss. Code Ann. s 17-2-4 mandates the IBC and IRC only and s 17-2-1 et seq. leaves other codes permissive to local government. · source ↗ |
| IMC — International Mechanical Code | NO GENERAL STATEWIDE MECHANICAL CODE IN MISSISSIPPI. The 2024 IMC is adopted STATEWIDE BUT ONLY FOR MODULAR HOMES, at 19 Miss. Admin. Code Pt. 7, R. 3.02.1(E) (State Fire Marshal / Manufactured Housing Division, Regulation ME-2007-3), verbatim: "The International Mechanical Code, 2024 edition, published by the ICC", effective July 1, 2026. FOR ORDINARY SITE-BUILT CONSTRUCTION MISSISSIPPI ADOPTS NO MECHANICAL CODE AT ALL AT STATE LEVEL. The statewide mandate at Miss. Code Ann. 17-2-4 (SB 2378, 2014) reaches ONLY the IBC and the IRC — mechanical is not in it. Mechanical is instead a DISCRETIONARY code the Mississippi Building Codes Council may establish and that counties and municipalities MAY adopt: the enacting act (2006 H.B. 1406, codified at Miss. Code Ann. 17-2-1 et seq.) names the IBC and IRC expressly and then allows only "Other codes addressing matters such as electrical, plumbing, mechanical, fire and fuel gas" — A CATEGORY, WITH NO CODE NAMED AND NO EDITION YEAR. So outside modular housing, THE MECHANICAL CODE GOVERNING A MISSISSIPPI PROJECT IS A LOCAL ORDINANCE QUESTION AND MAY BE ABSENT ENTIRELY. Recording a plain "2021 IMC" or "2024 IMC" as Mississippi's statewide mechanical code would be wrong twice over: wrong on scope, and wrong for every site-built project in the state. This mirrors the verified MS IPC row (86e0dd5e) exactly — same regulation, same modular-only scope, same statewide negative underneath. | 19 Miss. Admin. Code Pt. 7, R. 3.02.1(E) (Regulation ME-2007-3, modular homes); authority Miss. Code Ann. 75-49-5 (Supp. 2024). Statewide negative: Miss. Code Ann. 17-2-4 (2014 Miss. | IRC — International Residential Code | NO FIXED STATEWIDE EDITION — Miss. Code Ann. § 17-2-4 requires each county and municipality to adopt "One (1) of the last three (3) adopted editions of the International Residential Code (IRC)". A ROLLING THREE-EDITION WINDOW, NOT A NAMED YEAR: with the 2024 IRC published, the qualifying set is the 2018, 2021 and 2024 IRC, and two neighbouring Mississippi towns may lawfully be six years apart. The prior value on this row ("2021", sourced only to the ICC adoptions map — a code-seller page, which this lane may not use as a source) was not supportable and is corrected here. SEPARATELY AND NARROWLY, the 2024 IRC IS fixed statewide for MODULAR HOMES only: 19 Miss. Admin. Code Pt. 7, R. 3.02.1(D), "The International Residential Code, 2024 edition", eff. 2026-07-01. | Miss. Code Pt. 7, R. 3.02.1(B) (Mississippi Insurance Department / State Fire Marshal, Regulation ME-2007-3, Modular Homes -- Standards for Construction and Installation); authority Miss. Code Ann. s 75-49-5 (Supp. 2024); document header "REVISED AND UPDATED July 1, 2026". ADOPTION SENTENCE READ FIRST-HAND 2026-09-26, VERBATIM: "The National Electrical Code (NFPA 70), 2024 edition, published by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), Battery March Park, Quincy, Massachusetts 02269", followed at the end of the rule by the rolling clause VERBATIM: "All of the above codes as they may be revised or amended." STATEWIDE NEGATIVE: Miss. Code Ann. s 17-2-4 (2014 Miss. Laws S.B. 2378 s 1) mandates local adoption of the IBC and IRC ONLY -- see sibling rows 51ed8e23 and 48cf527d -- and Miss. Code Ann. s 17-2-1 et seq. (2006 H.B. 1406) makes any other code, electrical included, PERMISSIVE for a county or municipality. NO GENERAL STATEWIDE NEC ADOPTION EXISTS IN MISSISSIPPI; the 2024 NEC binds modular-home construction through this regulation and nothing else statewide. · source ↗ |
