ADA Parking Requirements — How Many Accessible Spaces & Sizes
Accessible parking counts come straight from Table 208.2 of the 2010 ADA Standards, and space dimensions from Section 502. One of every six accessible spaces must be van-accessible.
Worth knowing
- Accessible spaces must be on the shortest accessible route to the entrance (§208.3).
- Medical facilities have higher ratios: outpatient 10%, rehabilitation/outpatient physical therapy 20% (§208.2.1–2).
- Two accessible spaces may share one access aisle.
- State and local codes sometimes require more spaces than the ADA minimum — check your jurisdiction.
