602.1DESCRIPTION
This work consists of maintaining and restoring designated or approved detour routes.
602.2MATERIALS
Materials will conform to the following requirements or as approved by the local government agency and the Engineer: A.Granular Material: Granular material will be an acceptable material being used on the project. B.Asphalt Concrete Aggregate: Asphalt concrete aggregate will conform to one of the classes specified in Section 880. C.Cover Aggregate: Cover aggregate will conform to Type 3 as specified in Section 881. D.Asphalt Material: Asphalt material will be specified by the Engineer and will conform to Section 890. If any of the above materials are specified in the contract, the materials may be furnished for detour route maintenance and restoration under the same specification.
602.3CONSTRUCTION REQUIREMENTS
When detour routes are designated in the contract or added during construction, an agreement for the use & restoration of detour and/or wet weather detour (DOT-47) with the governmental agency or political subdivision charged with the control and maintenance of the designated roads will be included in or added to the contract. Prior to use of the designated or approved detour route, the governmental agency or political subdivision charged with the maintenance of the road, and the Engineer will conduct a joint inspection of all approved detour routes. Following this inspection, an agreement will be prepared on detour route inspection report (DOT-45 and DOT-45A) stating existing conditions and setting forth any special conditions of restoration of the detour route. The detour route inspection report must be signed and approved by the Engineer prior to use. During detour use, the Contractor will provide equipment and labor to maintain the detour route in a condition satisfactory to the Engineer at the Contractor’s expense including, but not limited to mobilization, blading, sweeping, shaping. Materials required to maintain the detour route will be paid for in accordance with Section 602.5 . When detour use is completed, the Contractor will restore the detour route to a condition which satisfies the conditions stipulated in the agreement (DOT-47). The Engineer will determine the kind and amount of restoration work required. The fact that other traffic has used the detour route concurrently with the detoured traffic will not relieve the Contractor of any obligation to maintain and restore the detour route. 602 Page 411Upon completion of the restoration work on a detour route, the governmental agency or political subdivision charged with the control and maintenance of such route and the Engineer will conduct a joint inspection of the detour route. The detour route release (DOT-47 Release) will be completed by the Engineer.
602.4METHOD OF MEASUREMENT
Materials for maintenance and restoration of detour routes will be measured as set forth in the applicable sections of these Specifications.
602.5BASIS OF PAYMENT
The Contractor will perform all required repairs at the contract unit prices contained in Section 4.4. The Department will reimburse the Contractor for 100% of the actual quantities of the materials required to perform the necessary maintenance repairs of all designated or approved detour routes. When materials and related work not listed in Section 4.4 are ordered by the Engineer, the materials and related work will be paid for in accordance with Section 9.4. Separate payment will not be made for mobilization, blading, sweeping, shaping, equipment, and labor costs necessary for maintenance and restoration of detour routes. The Department will reimburse the Contractor for 100% of the actual quantities of materials used for dust control measures on approved detour routes in accordance with Section 4.4. 605 Page 412605 FLY ASH
605.1DESCRIPTION
This specification allows the substitution of fly ash for a portion of Portland cement in concrete.
605.2MATERIALS
Fly ash will conform to Section 753.
605.3CONSTRUCTION REQUIREMENTS
A.Limitations: Fly ash will not be permitted when Type III cement is used. B.Storage: Fly ash will be stored at the concrete plant site in clearly marked separate containers. Use of divided bins in the same silo will be permitted if the silo is commercially manufactured with divided bins or if the contractor/concrete supplier has a certification by a registered professional engineer that the divided bins will structurally handle the load associated with the use of the silo. C.Design Mix: Fly ash may be substituted for cement in concrete. The addition or deletion of fly ash from the mix will be at no cost to the Department. If fly ash is used, the minimum amount of cement to be replaced is 15% and the maximum amount is 25% at a 1:1 ratio by weight. Changes in fly ash source or mill plant coal supply will require a new mix design approval. D.Batching: Fly ash may be weighed on a separate scale or on the same scale as the cement. If the cement scale is used, the cement must be weighed first.
605.4METHOD OF MEASUREMENT
No measurement will be made for fly ash.
605.5BASIS OF PAYMENT
Payment for the use of fly ash will not be made. All costs for sampling, testing, and using fly ash will be incidental to the respective concrete bid item.
