Part 2 — Products
2.1 Equipment
A.Use power -operated track propelled planing machine or grinder:
1.Capable of milling to cross slope as shown.
2.Self-propelled with sufficient power, traction, and stability to maintain accurate depth of cut.
3.Maximum of ⅝ inch between the cutting teeth on the mandrel.
4.Use a minimum 12 ft mill head on i nterstates and freeways and a minimum 7 ft mill head on all other roads or as directed by the Engineer.
B.Use cleaning equipment capable of sweeping , picking up millings , and cleaning the vertical edge to clean up after milling operation.
Part 3 — Execution
3.1 Rotomilling
A.The Engineer may:
1.Measure and record rotomilling depths, taking two random measurements every 1,000 ft of each pass of the milling machine.
2.Require an adjustment to the depth of the milling operation, up to an additional 3/8 inch of depth , to remove unacceptable material or to improve ride.
B.Rotomill existing bituminous pavement surface to the width and depth shown not to exceed an additional ⅜ inch of plan depth, measured from original surface to the top of the high point of the milled surface.
1.Produce a uniform pavement surface texture.
2.Adjust the speed of the milling operation to obtain continuous horizontal grind marks on the roadway surface without a skipping pattern.
3.Limit the difference between the high and low points of the milled surface to ¼ inch.
C.Load the millings from milling operation into a truck in one operation.
D.Millings not designated for use become the property of the contractor.
1.Remove and dispose of millings promptly as specified and according to applicable rules and regulations.
2.Do not place millings o n the job site except as described or as approved by the Engineer.
3.2 CLEAN AND REPAIR A. Remove and clean all millings from the surface daily. Control dust created by the cutting action. Clean rotomilled surface after milling operation and before opening to traffic.
B Verify all milled surfaces are sturdy and sound.
1.Remove any material that is loose or not well bonded.
