Part 2 — Products

2.1 State Fur Nished Equipment

A.ITS Cabinet
1.Pedestal -Mounted Cabinet
2.Pole-Mounted Cabinet with mounting brackets

2.2 Concrete

A.Foundation Concrete – Class AA(AE). Refer to Section 03055.

2.3 Bolts, Nuts, and Hardware

A.Provide w edge type expansion anchor bolts which have current ICC -ES evaluation report for cabinet mounts .
1.Provide anchor bolts with 5/8 inch diameter .
2.Embed in concrete at least 4 inch .
3.Provide at least 1 inch projected length above the concrete.
4.Use washers sized to secure strong connection between the anchor and cabinet.
B.Stainless steel, galvanized, or zinc plated bolts, nuts, washers, and hardware
C.Non-self-locking nuts
D.Nipples, elbows, and grommets necessary for wiring.

2.4 Conduit

A.Refer to Section 13553.

2.5 Underground Junction Box

A.Refer to Section 13554.

2.6 Expansion Joint Material

A.Preformed expansion joint filler. Refer to AT Series Standard Drawings and Section 03152.

2.7 Electrical Power

Part 3 — Execution

3.1 Preparation

A.Contact the Engineer at least 30 calendar days before State furnished cabinets are needed to schedule pick up of the items.
B.Load and transport State furnished materials.

3.2 General

A.Verify maintenance equipment has full access to the site.
B.Comply with NEC for electrical connections.
C.Restore area to the original condition or as shown after construction is completed.

3.3 Cabinet Foundation

A.Verify conduit placement and foundation dimensions before foundation construction.
B.Conduit
1.Install conduit s centered at top of cabinet foundation within a 1 7 inch x 1 7 inch square.
2.Provide at least 1 -inch spacing between conduit s.
3.Extend conduit 2 inch above top of cabinet foundation.
4.Locate conduit at least 3 inch from concrete surface.
5.Refer to AT Series Standard Drawings for number and size of conduit s used between the cabinet and adjacent junction boxes .
6.Seal conduit s at both ends until cable installation.
a.Install bushings on conduit ends before cable installation.
b.Install 2 inch of duct seal in empty conduits.
C.Cast foundation in place as shown on AT Series Standard Drawings.
1.Place cabinet foundation parallel to the roadway. ITS Cabinet
D.Cabinet F oundation Surfaces
1.Ordinary Surface Finish. Refer to Section 03 310.
2.Chamfer around top surface perimeter .
3.Level top surface before cabinet installation.
E.Drill holes for anchor bolts and install according to manufacturer’s instructions.
F.Place preformed expansion joint filler at concrete joints.

3.4 Pedestal -Mounted Cabinet

A.Install p edestal -mounted cabinets so the vented door that accesses the front face of the control equipment is closest to the Type II -PC junction box and downstream of traffic . Refer to AT Series Standard Drawings.
1.Securely fasten the cabinet onto the concrete foundation.
2.Verify that both cabinet door s can fully open and close after the cabinet has been installed on the foundation.
B.Caulk between base of cabinet and top of foundation to form a watertight seal.
1.Provide a water tight seal that does not degrade the NEMA 3R enclosure rating .
2.Refer to NEMA Standards Publication 250 for ratings of the enclosure for all conduit fittings and chases to adjoining enclosures.
C.Isolate dissimilar metals from one another where applicable .
D.Make power connections as shown.
1.Isolate the neutral bus from the cabinet and equipment ground.
2.Terminate the neutral bus at the neutral lug attached to the electrical service pedestal.

3.5 Pole -Mounted Its Cabinet

A.Install pole -mounted cabinets so the vented door opens downstream of traffic.
1.Use stainless steel bands. Refer to AT Series Drawings.
B.Drill holes and install nipples in pole at each site.
1.Touch- up damaged galvanized surfaces with zinc rich paint both within the hole and around the hole. ITS Cabinet
C.Arrange all equipment installed in the cabinet in a neat and orderly fashion on shelf or on DIN rail mount .
D.Connect power as specified in the contract and comply with the NEC.

3.6 Concrete Service Pad

A.Refer to Section 02776.
1.Construct as shown in the AT Series Standard Drawings.
2.Class B (AE) concrete or better may be used.

3.7 Underground Junction Box

A.Install junction boxes as shown in AT Series Standard Drawings. Refer to Section 13554.

3.8 Conductors

A.Refer to Section 16530.
B.Bond the grounding conductor from the cabinet ground bus to the ground rod in the Type II junction box.
C.Terminate all terminal connections by a mechanical (spade) connector.
D.Identify and label all field terminals and cables.

3.9 Electrical Power From Source

A.Refer to Section 1 6530.
