MUTCD D5-14: Brake Check Area Signs
The D5-14 sign is covered in Section 2I.06 of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, 11th Edition. Below are the provisions from that section that describe when the sign is used and how it is placed.
What it means and when it is used
- Guidance · Recommended (should)If an area has been provided for drivers to pull off of the roadway to check the brakes on their vehicle, a Brake Check Area Advance (D5-13) sign (see Figure 2I-6 ) should be installed in advance of the brake check area, and a D5-14 sign (see Figure 2I-6 ) should be placed at the entrance to the brake check area.
