MUTCD I2-5: Project Information Sign

The I2-5 sign is covered in Section 2H.09 of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, 11th Edition. Below are the provisions from that section that describe when the sign is used and how it is placed.

What it means and when it is used

  • Standard · Required (shall)
    The Project Information sign legend shall be limited to the following project information:A. The roadway name or route number, B. A brief description or title of the project, C. The completion date expressed in either a month or season (Spring, Summer, Fall, or Winter), and D. The agency name.
  • Option · Permitted (may)
    Project Information signs installed more than one week prior to commencement of work may include a start date.

Placement and mounting

  • Standard · Required (shall)
    Project Information signs shall not be installed more than one month prior to the commencement of work. When installing Project Information signs prior to the commencement of work, the jurisdiction shall have a policy on when the Project Information signs are to be installed.
