MUTCD R2-3P: Night Speed Limit Plaque
The R2-3P sign is covered in Section 2B.23 of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, 11th Edition. Below are the provisions from that section that describe when the sign is used and how it is placed.
What it means and when it is used
- Standard · Required (shall)Where different speed limits are prescribed for day and night, both limits shall be posted.
- Guidance · Recommended (should)A Night Speed Limit (R2-3P) plaque (see Figure 2B-3 ) should be reversed using a white retroreflective legend and border on a black background.
Placement and mounting
- Option · Permitted (may)A Night Speed Limit plaque may be combined with or installed below the standard Speed Limit (R2-1) sign.
