Montgomery requires a permit for a deck.
Under section 5-71, which amends residential code subsection R105.2, a freestanding deck needs no permit if it is 200 square feet or smaller, sits no higher than 30 inches above grade at any point, is not attached to a dwelling, and does not serve the dwelling's required exit door under section R311.4.
