Do you need a permit?
Lakewood requires a permit for a shed.
A one-story detached accessory building does not need a building permit at up to 200 square feet of floor area on a residential structure or 120 square feet on a commercial structure; covered uses include tool and storage sheds, pergolas and playhouses. An exempt accessory storage structure must sit at least 10 feet from the primary structure unless the accessory structure’s wall facing it is one-hour fire rated. Plumbing, electrical and mechanical permits are still required for work related to an exempt structure; a 200 square foot shed with electrical service or a sub-panel needs an electrical permit, and one with a hose bib or hand sink needs a plumbing permit.
