Electrical work permit checklist — Augusta, Georgia

Assembled from Augusta’s own published permit rules. Every line below is quoted from a city document and linked to it. Nothing here is generated, estimated, or inferred from another jurisdiction.

Do you need a permit?

Augusta requires a permit for electrical work.

When a permit is not required

Wireless or cord-and-plug burglar alarm systems do not require a permit. Minor repairs can be made to electrical systems without a permit, as determined by the Building Official. Where a building has been vacant for a long period of time and no electrical work has been done on the building, no permit or inspection is required before power is reconnected.
