Water heater permit checklist — Augusta, Georgia

Assembled from Augusta’s own published permit rules. Every line below is quoted from a city document and linked to it. Nothing here is generated, estimated, or inferred from another jurisdiction.

Do you need a permit?

Augusta requires a permit for a water heater.

When a permit is not required

Ordinary repairs, meaning nonstructural repairs where the cost of project materials is less than $500.00, can be made without a permit; ordinary repairs do not include water heater replacement or work that adds, alters, replaces, or relocates water supply, sewer, drainage, gas, or similar piping. Minor repairs can be made to plumbing systems without a permit, as determined by the Building Official.
