Water heater permit checklist — Aurora, Illinois
Assembled from Aurora’s own published permit rules. Every line below is quoted from a city document and linked to it. Nothing here is generated, estimated, or inferred from another jurisdiction.
Do you need a permit?
Aurora does not require a permit for a water heater.
The City's Permits page states that water heater replacement does not require a permit except when the unit is going from tank to tankless; the amended residential code section R105.2 (Sec. 12-17.6 of the Code of Ordinances) exempts replacement of water heaters with water heaters of like type, capacity, and fuel demand.
