Electrical work permit checklist — Laredo, Texas

Assembled from Laredo’s own published permit rules. Every line below is quoted from a city document and linked to it. Nothing here is generated, estimated, or inferred from another jurisdiction.

Do you need a permit?

Laredo requires a permit for electrical work.

When a permit is not required

Section 11-40 of the Code of Ordinances removes the permit requirement for the making of minor repairs or maintenance work and for the connection of portable electrical equipment or lamps to permanently installed receptacles. It also removes it for an established refrigeration firm or organization replacing a refrigerator motor or controls that are part of the refrigeration system, and for conductors or equipment installed within and on premises within the control and supervision of the state and/or the state highway department where the installation will be part of facilities operated, maintained and controlled by the state and/or that department.
