Shed permit checklist — Orem, Utah
Assembled from Orem’s own published permit rules. Every line below is quoted from a city document and linked to it. Nothing here is generated, estimated, or inferred from another jurisdiction.
Do you need a permit?
Orem requires a permit for a shed.
On a one- or two-family dwelling lot, Orem asks for no permit for a detached single-story storage shed at 200 square feet or smaller. The threshold drops on commercial and multi-family property, where a detached single-story accessory building such as a garden shed, a playhouse or something comparable is released only at 120 square feet of floor area or less, and site plan approval still applies. Conex boxes also fall outside the permit requirement below 350 square feet, provided they sit on grade, connect to nothing and serve only for storage.
