Burlington requires a permit for electrical work.
No permit is required for the connection of portable devices to suitable receptacles which have been permanently installed; the installation, maintenance or alteration of electric wiring and equipment to be installed by or for a public utility or public service corporation for its use in the generation, transmission, distribution or metering of electric energy or in the operation of signals or the transmission of intelligence; device replacement including but not limited to the installation of replacement smoke detectors/alarm where no new wiring is required; and direct equipment replacement including but not limited to motors and controllers.
