Shed permit checklist — Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Assembled from Milwaukee’s own published permit rules. Every line below is quoted from a city document and linked to it. Nothing here is generated, estimated, or inferred from another jurisdiction.
Do you need a permit?
Milwaukee requires a permit for a shed.
Sheds used as tool or storage sheds, or other similar uses, do not require a building permit if the floor areas are 150 sq. ft. or smaller and are at least 3 ft. from property lines. All other requirements, like the zoning ordinance and relevant setbacks, still apply.
