Falsework

Falsework is temporary construction used to support structural elements of concrete, steel, masonry, or other materials during their construction or erection until they become self-supporting. Falsework may also be used to provide temporary support to elements of a structure during demolition or reconstruction.

Temporary construction intended to support permanent construction of a structural element until the element is self-supporting. Final Acceptance. The work is substantially complete with all corrective work completed. The contractor is relieved of maintenance responsibilities as of the date of final acceptance. Force Account. Work performed by the contractor at the engineer’s direction. Formwork. A temporary structure or mold used to retain and resist the operations of placing a plastic or fluid material in a designated shape until the material hardens. General Description. Temporary construction work on which a main work is wholly or partly built and supported until it is strong enough to support itself; a temporary framework used to support part or all of a structure during demolition.

Any temporary facility/device used to support a permanent structure until the structure is self-supporting. Falsework includes, but is not limited to, steel or timber beams, girders, columns, piles and foundations, and any propriety equipment including modular shoring frames, post shores, and adjustabl e horizontal shoring.
