Bridge Expansion Joints Art. 520.03 421 computed using the plan diameter of the shaft multiplied by the measured length of the shaft. The length of shaft in soil will be computed as the difference in elevation between the top of the drilled shaft shown on the plans, or as installed as part of the Contractor’s installation procedure, and the bottom of the shaft or the top of rock (when present) whichever is higher.
