Electrical work permit checklist — San Bernardino, California
Assembled from San Bernardino’s own published permit rules. Every line below is quoted from a city document and linked to it. Nothing here is generated, estimated, or inferred from another jurisdiction.
Do you need a permit?
San Bernardino requires a permit for electrical work.
The Building & Safety Division states that permits are required for all electrical work with only minor exceptions; the city publishes no amended electrical exemption list, so the state exemptions in the adopted code (portable equipment, repair or replacement of fixed motors/appliances of the same type and rating, replacement of receptacles/switches/lamps and similar minor maintenance) are what apply. Note the schedule expressly charges no fee for solar energy system electrical work.
