Do you need a permit?
Fort Collins requires a permit for electrical work.
Exempt electrical work includes replacing existing light controls, ceiling fans and interior light fixtures in the same location with fixtures of the same or lower wattage; temporary decorative cord-and-plug lighting; reinstalling attachment plug receptacles, not the outlets themselves; replacing branch circuit overcurrent devices with the same rating in the same location; electrical systems under 25 volts and under 50 watts; and minor repairs such as replacing lamps or connecting approved portable equipment to approved receptacles. The exemption does not extend to new or relocated light fixtures, controls or junction boxes, which require a permit.
