Do you need a permit?
Atlanta requires a permit for electrical work.
For existing one-family, two-family, and duplex residences, repair or replacement of existing electrical outlets and existing electrical fixtures is exempt, as is the installation, repair, or replacement of low voltage systems such as security alarms, garage door openers, and phone and cable lines. These exemptions do not apply to exterior work on property in a landmark or historic district governed by Chapter 20 of the zoning ordinance.
