General building work permit checklist — Boise, Idaho

Assembled from Boise’s own published permit rules. Every line below is quoted from a city document and linked to it. Nothing here is generated, estimated, or inferred from another jurisdiction.

Do you need a permit?

Boise requires a permit for general building work.

When a permit is not required

Interior painting, floor coverings, cabinets, countertops and wall coverings do not require a building permit. A permit is required if wall coverings are removed to expose framing, if a wall or partition is built, or if sinks, tubs, showers or water closets are relocated. A driveway does not require a building permit but does require Planning and Zoning approval.
