Shed permit checklist — Boise, Idaho
Assembled from Boise’s own published permit rules. Every line below is quoted from a city document and linked to it. Nothing here is generated, estimated, or inferred from another jurisdiction.
Do you need a permit?
Boise requires a permit for a shed.
A garden shed of 200 square feet or less does not require a building permit, except that a permit is required for any shed located in a flood plain. Sheds between 120 and 200 square feet require setback confirmation with Planning. A stand-alone pergola or gazebo over 200 square feet requires a permit and typically requires structural engineering by an Idaho licensed engineer.
