Re-roof permit checklist — Overland Park, Kansas
Assembled from Overland Park’s own published permit rules. Every line below is quoted from a city document and linked to it. Nothing here is generated, estimated, or inferred from another jurisdiction.
Do you need a permit?
Overland Park does not require a permit for a re-roof.
A permit is not required for roofing and reroofing; reroofing is considered a repair. Changing from a light roof covering, such as asphalt or wood shingles, to a heavy roof covering, such as concrete tiles, clay tiles or slate, requires a permit and an engineered analysis of the roof structure. Roof deck repair or replacement requires a permit only if structural repairs are necessary. Reroofing is exempt from a floodplain development permit except where the sheathing or joists underneath the roofing materials are replaced or other structural repairs are necessary, or where the roofing is replaced in conjunction with other building repairs that require a building permit.
