Do you need a permit?
Greensboro does not require a permit for a re-roof.
Replacing an existing roof does not require a building permit when the construction cost is $40,000 or less: the roofing work listed at that cost level is the addition of roofing, excluding replacement. North Carolina General Statute 160D-1110 limits this exemption to work performed in accordance with the current edition of the North Carolina State Building Code in a single-family residence, farm building, or commercial building.
