Do you need a permit?
Toledo requires a permit for general building work.
Toledo Municipal Code 1305.02 sets out residential work that needs no permit. Items include one-story detached sheds and playhouses up to 200 square feet, fences up to six feet tall, retaining walls up to four feet measured footing to top that carry no surcharge, ground-level sidewalks and driveways under 30 inches high with no basement or story beneath and no accessible-route role, and cosmetic finish work such as painting, tiling and cabinetry. The section is not limited to those items and also picks up work exempted from approval under the Ohio Building Code and the Residential Code of Ohio at section 102.10.
