Do you need a permit?
Pittsburgh requires a permit for a shed.
A detached single-story accessory building, such as a tool or storage shed or a playhouse, is exempt from PLI and Zoning regulation and can be built without applying for a Building and Development Application, provided floor area stays at 200 square feet or less and the building is accessory to a single-family or two-family dwelling. Work in this exempt category must still comply with the City Zoning Code.
