Do you need a permit?
Clearfield requires a permit for general building work.
Clearfield publishes a two-column handout of work that does and does not need a building permit. No building permit is needed for general landscaping, painting, wallpapering, floor coverings, adding insulation, replacing cabinets and countertops, replacing plumbing fixtures, changing light fixtures/switches/outlets, concrete sidewalks on private property, unroofed concrete porches and patios, fence repairs, minor roof repairs, uncovered wood decks sitting under 30 inches off the ground, single-story detached sheds of 200 sq ft or less on one- and two-family lots (120 sq ft or less on commercial or multi-family property, where site plan approval is still needed), retaining walls under 4 feet as sized from the footing base, and above-ground pool kits shallower than 24 inches. The handout states the lists are not all-inclusive.
