Shed permit checklist — Syracuse, Utah

Assembled from Syracuse’s own published permit rules. Every line below is quoted from a city document and linked to it. Nothing here is generated, estimated, or inferred from another jurisdiction.

Do you need a permit?

Syracuse requires a permit for a shed.

When a permit is not required

Storage sheds exceeding 200 sq ft require a building permit; the threshold is 120 sq ft for commercial or multi-family of four or more units, and anything over 400 sq ft requires engineering. One-story detached storage sheds of 200 sq ft or smaller on one- and two-family dwelling lots, and 120 sq ft or smaller in commercial or multi-family settings, do not require a building permit, but site plan approval is still required.
