General building work permit checklist — Tooele, Utah
Assembled from Tooele’s own published permit rules. Every line below is quoted from a city document and linked to it. Nothing here is generated, estimated, or inferred from another jurisdiction.
Do you need a permit?
Tooele requires a permit for general building work.
Tooele City Code 4-1-2 provides a discretionary carve-out rather than a list: "The construction, alteration, repair, removal, or occupancy of any structure or part thereof as provided or as restricted in this Title, shall not be commenced or proceeded with except after the issuance of a written permit for same by the Building Official; provided, that no permit shall be necessary where the erection, construction, reconstruction, or alteration is minor in character as defined herein, or as determined by the Building Official." The city publishes no square-footage or dollar-value exemption thresholds of its own.
