SECTION 531: PERMANENT ANTI-GR AFFITI PROTECTIVE COATING
531.1 Description
This Work shall consist of p roviding and applying anti-graffiti coating to concrete and steel surfaces at the location(s) shown in the Contract.
531.2 Materials
Use a permanent (non-sacraficia l) anti-graffiti coating. Provide a treatment solution t hat is on the Department’s Approv ed Products List.
531.2.1 Physical Properties
Product shall meet the requirements for ASTM D7089 Cleanability Level 1 – graffiti removal with pressure water wash. Product shall meet the requi rements of ASTM D6578 – Standard Practice for Determinat ion of Graffiti Resistance. The color shall be clear and shall not alter the color of the u nderlying surface finish.
531.2.2 Submittals
Submit documentation showing the manufacturer’s application ins tructions and recommended coverage rates. Submit project specific letter from the manufacturer confirming compatability with underlying surface coatings including but not limited to: conc rete curing compound, penetrating water repellant treatment, primer, or paint product s. A letter is not required if the material is applied over bare concrete or bare steel. The Contractor shall allow 14 Days for submittal review.
531.3 Construction Requirements
Permanent anti-graffiti protect ive coating shall be applied to concrete and steel surfaces after completion of the coating for concrete surfaces or topcoa t for steel surfaces. The Contractor shall apply the protective coating in compliance wit h all manufacturer's recommendations. The type of protective coating and method of application must be approved by the Project Manager prior to use. The Contractor s hall furnish all Materials, storage, handling, tools, Equipment, labor, and other appurtena nces necessary to complete the Work.
531.4 Method of Measurement
Permanent anti-graffiti protective coating will be measured by the square foot.
