Do you need a permit?
Chandler does not require a permit for a re-roof.
The Homeowner Building Permit Manual lists like for like replacement of roof coverings, where the replacement roof does not increase the load imposed upon the structural frame, among the work for which a building permit is not required. Ordinance No. 5108, amending the work exempt from permit provisions of the adopted residential code at section 29-6.7, exempts replacement of a roof cover where the replacement roof covering classification is equal to or greater than the existing roof covering classification and does not increase the loads upon the structural frame, and also allows special cases determined by the Building Official for work of a similar nature and complexity.
