Do you need a permit?
Riverside requires a permit for a shed.
One-story detached accessory structures used as a tool or storage shed, playhouse or similar use are exempt from a building permit when the floor area does not exceed 120 square feet. The Building & Safety Division's permits page states that 120-square-foot threshold on its own; the division's Work Exempt from Building Permits handout limits the same exemption to detached accessory structures of 120 square feet or less that will not be electrically wired.
