Do you need a permit?
Baltimore requires a permit for electrical work.
For one- and two-family dwellings, exempt electrical work includes listed cord-and-plug connected temporary decorative lighting; reinstallation of attachment plug receptacles, but not the outlets for them; wiring, devices, appliances, or equipment operating at less than 25 volts and not capable of supplying more than 50 watts; and minor repair work, including the replacement of lamps or the connection of approved portable electrical equipment to approved permanently installed receptacles. An exemption does not authorize work to be done in a manner that violates the Building, Fire, and Related Codes of Baltimore City or any other law.
