Do you need a permit?
Baltimore requires a permit for a water heater.
For one- and two-family dwellings, exempt gas and mechanical work includes portable heating, cooking, or clothes-drying appliances and the replacement of any minor part that does not alter the approval of the equipment or make the equipment unsafe. An exemption does not authorize work to be done in a manner that violates the Building, Fire, and Related Codes of Baltimore City or any other law.
