Assembled from Paterson’s own published permit rules. Every line below is quoted from a city document and linked to it. Nothing here is generated, estimated, or inferred from another jurisdiction.
Do you need a permit?
Paterson requires a permit for a shed.
Under the State Uniform Construction Code, N.J.A.C. 5:23-2.14, garden-type utility sheds and similar structures 200 square feet or less in area and 10 feet or less in height, accessory to buildings of Group R-2, R-3, R-4, or R-5 and containing no water, gas, oil, or sewer connection, do not require a construction permit for building work; a construction permit for electrical work is still required when applicable.
