Knoxville requires a permit for a shed.
A one-story detached accessory structure may qualify for a building-permit exemption under Section R105.2 when its floor area does not exceed 200 square feet. Most projects still require application and review to confirm an exemption, and an exemption does not authorize work that violates the residential code, the zoning code, or other city ordinances.
