Fence permit checklist — Cedar City, Utah
Assembled from Cedar City’s own published permit rules. Every line below is quoted from a city document and linked to it. Nothing here is generated, estimated, or inferred from another jurisdiction.
Do you need a permit?
Cedar City does not require a permit for a fence.
A permit is not required to install a fence 6 feet or less in height. A fence higher than 6 feet requires consultation with the Building and Zoning Department, and setback and location requirements must be verified with that department in any case. Note that a separate Cedar City FAQ answer on fence setbacks states 'Front: 1' off sidewalk and no more than 30" high,' which does not reconcile with the 6-foot no-permit threshold; both are preserved here and the permit-requirement answer is treated as primary.
