Shed permit checklist — Cedar City, Utah

Assembled from Cedar City’s own published permit rules. Every line below is quoted from a city document and linked to it. Nothing here is generated, estimated, or inferred from another jurisdiction.

Do you need a permit?

Cedar City requires a permit for a shed.

When a permit is not required

Accessory structures need a permit when they are over 200 square feet, have more than one story, or have footings, foundations, electricity, plumbing or mechanical fixtures installed. Cedar City also directs owners of sheds, barns and detached garages to call 435-865-4519 or check City Ordinance Chapter 26 Article 3 for the rules that apply to their zone, since other factors can determine whether a permit is needed.
