621Tray Cable

Article 1 — Description

Furnish and install tray cable.

Article 2 — Materials

Provide new materials that comply with the details shown on the plans and meet the requirements of Item 620, “Electrical Conductors.” Furnish tray cable from new materials in accordance with DMS -11050 , “Tray Cable.” Provide pre- qualified tray cable from the Department’s MPL. When required by the Engineer, notify the Department in writing of selected materials from the MPL intended for use on each project.

Article 3 — Construction

Perform work as shown on the plans and in accordance with this Item. Provide an additional 5 ft. of cable coiled in each ground box when installing cable in underground conduit. Splice tray cable conductors only at locations shown on the plans. Obtain the Engineer’s written approval for each splice. Ensure splices are watertight. Test the cable’s conductors after installation and before any connection. Remove and replace tray cable exhibiting a direct -current ( DC) insulation resistance of less than 5 megohms at 1,000V DC at no additional cost to the Department.

Article 4 — Measurement

This Item will be measured by the foot of tray cable. This is a plans quantity measurement Item. The quantity to be paid is the quantity shown in the proposal , unless modified by Article 9.2., “Plans Quantity Measurement.” Additional measurements or calculations will be made if adjustments of quantities are required.

Article 5 — Payment

The work performed and materials furnished in accordance with this Item and measured as provided under “Measurement” will be paid for at the unit price bid for “Tray Cable” of the types and sizes specified. This price is full compensation for furnishing and installing materials and for equipment, labor, tools, and incidentals.
