Do you need a permit?
Phoenix requires a permit for a shed.
A detached single-story accessory building such as a garden shed, a playhouse, a shade structure with no cantilever, or something comparable needs no permit at 200 square feet of floor area or less, as long as it meets the Phoenix Zoning Ordinance. Intermodal shipping containers left unmodified are also released up to 320 square feet. Storm shelters sit outside the exemption, and running utilities out to an exempt structure requires its own permit.
