Do you need a permit?
Ontario requires a permit for electrical work.
Ontario's FAQ does not publish a local electrical exemption list, so CEC/CBC 105.2 governs: like-for-like device replacement, repair or replacement of a fixed motor or appliance of the same type and rating in the same location, temporary decorative lighting, and low-voltage systems under 25 volts. New circuits, panel and service changes require an electrical permit. Note that Ontario does exempt garbage disposers, cooking ranges and clothes dryers, and portable ventilating or cooling equipment, from permit.
