Hialeah requires a permit for a shed.
Hialeah guidance on the $7,500 residential exemption at Florida Statutes Section 553.79(1)(g), effective July 1, 2026, keeps the exemption to cosmetic and maintenance work that does not affect the structure, and separately excludes any alteration requiring zoning review and approval. Every example the city gives is an interior finish, a landscaping improvement or a minor roof repair. Hialeah has published nothing treating a detached accessory structure as exempt.
