Do you need a permit?
Baton Rouge requires a permit for electrical work.
Electrical work exempt from permitting includes replacement of a light fixture; replacement of a device, meaning switches and receptacles; installation or replacement of low voltage wiring and devices operating at less than 25 volts and not capable of supplying more than 50 watts of energy; replacement of a circuit breaker or fuse of the same size in the same location; installation of cord and plug temporary decorative lighting; and installation or replacement of antennas, transmission cables and devices on radio, television and cellular towers, although the towers themselves and the electrical equipment that powers the transmission devices do require a permit.
