Deck permit checklist — Logan, Utah
Assembled from Logan’s own published permit rules. Every line below is quoted from a city document and linked to it. Nothing here is generated, estimated, or inferred from another jurisdiction.
Do you need a permit?
Logan requires a permit for a deck.
Logan's handout 'Residential Carport, Deck Cover, or Patio Cover' states that a building permit is required to build a carport, deck cover or patio cover, and that the permit may also cover electrical, plumbing and heating system modifications to existing or roughed-in systems. It also states that post and beam structures such as carports and patio covers must be designed by a Utah licensed engineer or architect. The handout publishes no exemption threshold. Decks themselves are called out for review at the Final Building Inspection.
